Thank God for Mothers
I look at my calendar and do a double take. Is it May already? This year has raced by. I guess that happens when you are busy.
This month our hearts and minds turn to those who have one of the toughest jobs, our mothers. We pause to thank God for all they have done for us. The life they gave, the meals they made, the advice they gave, the strong shoulder to cry on, the clean clothes we enjoyed, the encouragement they gave, and most of all for the love they showered upon us. If you are lucky enough to have you mother still with you, remember to give her a hug and make her day special. If like me your mother has gone on to be with Jesus, remember her in prayer. Whatever you do, do not forget the day!
As I write this, I remember my mother. She faithfully brought me to Sunday School and the services of God’s house. She was even my Sunday School teacher when I was young. My love of music comes from my mom. I can still hear her voice as she sang in church. She would sing in the choir and do soloes as well. I get my singing ability from her. As I grew, Mom taught me right from wrong and did her best to keep me on the right path. In her final months as I sat with her and we watched TV and talked, it was Mom who encouraged me to get back into ministry. So, you can thank Mom for my being here. She felt strongly that God had called me to ministry and that I needed to get back to it. I still miss her.
So, on the 13th of this month, remember it is Mom’s day. Take her out to eat or you do the cooking and clean-up. Don’t let her work on her special day. Give her a gift of love and let her know you love her for all she has done.
God gave you a special gift, your mother. Truly cherish her.
See you in Church on Sunday

More from Pastor Bill
On the 9th of this month we will be starting out next bible study. This study is called, “How God Takes Our Little and Makes It Much.” We will be looking at 2 Old Testament figures, Moses and Ester, and have four sessions from the New Testament as we look at how God supports our efforts and makes them more than we can do on our own. Once again, we will have two sessions, one at 10 a.m. and the other at 6 p.m. Come and join us in study as we see what God has to say to us. All members are invited!! Contact the church office to get your copy of the study.
ICE CREAM Social
July will see a homemade Ice Cream social. This is due to take place on the fifth Sunday of July. Start warming up your Ice cream makers and getting your recipes fine-tuned. Come share in the fun. More details to follow.
CHRISTIAN MOVIE NIGHT
This Summer, after completing the Bible Study, we will be switching to something a little different. We will be having our first annual Christian Movie time. It will take place on Wednesdays. We will have at 10 a.m. matinee for those who do not like to get out at night and a 6 p.m. showing as well. There will be popcorn provided and a good wholesome entertainment for all. Our first movie will be God’s Not Dead 1. Watch for this beginning soon.
This fall we will be getting together a new pictorial directory for the church. We have contacted a company to work with us. Please participate because the directory will not be complete without each of you.
Memorial Day Remembrance
On the 27th of this month we will be remembering members of our church family who gave their lives in service to their country. If you have a family member who gave their life, please send us a picture and their name so that we can honor them on that day. Cody will be getting a slide presentation ready for that day.
The May Men’s Breakfast brought out 21 men for good food and fellowship. Seventeen were visitors and four of the church family.
We invite you to join us for the April breakfast on June 5 at 6:30 am.
Looking forward to seeing you there.
Special note, there will be no breakfast in July. However, we will be here cooking breakfast on August 7, 2018
This breakfast is open to all men from anywhere, any denomination and friends.
THE CHOIR CORNER:
Take a break. Your last worship in song was amazing. You deserve applause and rest. Come back soon though; I enjoyed the worship immensely.

If your organization or committee has an event to be held at or sponsored by the church, please call the secretary’s office at 903-639-2131, so it can be placed on the calendar, in the bulletin and in the newsletter.
This will help prevent double bookings at the church.
We will be glad to include a listing of your church meeting or activity in the newsletter, but remember that Debbie must have the information before the first of the month in order to have it in the newsletter.
Remembering Your Church with Your Gifts
As all of us know, giving to our church to support God’s Ministry is something we need to remember. Today, we all have active lives. Including vacations, visiting out of town family, attending those special weddings and of course seeing our grandchildren.
Our lives can get hectic and sometimes we can forget our ministry to God. To help with that, we now offer online giving to the church. Simply go to the church website:
From here you can donate your gifts to the church.
Heartspring Methodist Foundation is offering this to us at no charge. Every penny you donate comes directly to the church with no fees or service charges.
On this tab, you can decide to give to the general account for the church’s budget or to another special or designated fund. You can make memorials or honorariums to people. (Notifications will be sent to those families). You can make a one-time gift or set up a reoccurring gift. You can use your credit or debit card or have it drafted from your personal account. You can register and create an account or give as a guest. You have a lot of options to have it set up your way and you can change or delete your selection at any time.
So, during your busy schedule, give online giving a try.
If you have any more questions about the process, please call Debbie at the church office. 903-639-2131 Monday – Thursday 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
If you are scheduled to enter a hospital please let the church office know. Need name of hospital, city and date of check in. This will help Pastor Bill be able to be with you in your time of need.
If you or a family member is unexpectedly admitted to the hospital, please give the church office the same information.
We are on this journey together and communication is key.
A Little Reminder:
In case something comes up and you miss Sunday morning service.
You may go to the church Face book page and watch the entire service streamed live. If you can not watch it live, each Sunday’s service is streamed and stored on Face book. You can watch them anytime. If you have a favorite sermon that you would like to hear again, find that date in the video section and listen anytime.
Also, the church website offers many things for church members and those looking for a church home. The pastor’s blog, current calendar of events, the newsletter archived online, online giving, our church ministries and much more. Try to visit regularly, things are always changing.
The church office is not on the prayer phone chain. Because of this, sometimes we miss information about members’ prayer requests or joys to share.
If you have a prayer request or know of one, please call (903-639-2131) or email email@example.com, the church office. If you call after office hours, please leave a message on the voicemail.
This will help us to know when one of our church family has a special need.
If you would like a church wide email sent for a prayer request, please contact Debbie in the office by phone or email.
Also, please try to keep us informed on the person’s condition.
Thank you, Debbie Kelley

I love to go by the bulletin board at the south entrance of the church. Ms. Carly and the kids always show their creativity and share with us on the bulletin board.
The next time you think about it, stop by and see what the Children’s department has to offer you by way of their creativity.
Thank you, Ms. Carly and all the kids.
Praying for our Pastor
Dear Lord, I am praying for my pastor. I ask that You give him the time that he needs to be in Your word. I pray that You help us to remember why leaders were first elected in the church; so that the preachers might have time to be ministers of Your word. Help us to remember that we can do the things that need to be done that do not require the assistance of the preacher. Help us to give of our time and talent and to encourage others to do the same. I pray through Jesus, Amen.
Acts 6:1-4 And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration. Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables. Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
The path to glory is often marked
By the pettiness of this world
We spend so much time doubting
Instead of letting His plan unfurl
Trust can often be terrifying
When facing the unknown
But that fear pales in comparison
To the love He has shown
He sent His Son to die for us
To pay for all our sins
And so, I know, no matter what
The love of God always wins.

First off, we would like to thank everyone who came out and helped us with the cleanup for the Nadine’s Outreach project.
We also want to thank you for your continued patience for the issues in the sanctuary. We are working closely with the insurance company. Remember, it took 79 years for it to get in this shape and the insurance company does not get in a hurry. We are in a holding pattern until the engineer and insurance company decide the best course of action for us to take.
We ask for your continued prayers and understanding.
Troy Perry, Trustee Chairman
Administrative Council Chairman
It has been a busy year thus far at FUMC HS, and I am proud to see so much participation from our congregation in all of the many activities that have been going on. Let’s keep up that trend!
We had a good turnout and made good progress on the 4th street property clean-up day a few Saturdays ago. We still have a long way to go before both of the houses are properly cleaned, repaired, and will be ready for service, but as long as we continue to have so many people willing to donate of their time and resources, the houses will be ready in no time.
I want to personally thank everyone for their participation in the Wildflower Trails parade float. We had about 30 people ride the float and several others that helped to decorate it. I like seeing our church get involved in community activities. It lets our community know that we are alive and active in the Methodist church. Oh, and by the way, we got 3rd place!
Another thanks goes out to Ms. Lisa Moreland and Ms. Sandra Willis for all they have done to lead our youth department over the last several years. They will be stepping down from this position after this school year is up and we are looking for someone to fill this need in the church. If you are interested in the position, please talk to either Lisa or Sandra to find out more about the Youth Director duties. Also, contact the church office to learn more about what the office needs from the Youth leader. If you would like to help, please get in contact Pastor Bill or Cathy Zachry.
We are still in need of funding to be able to replace the two main projectors in our sanctuary. In order to do this properly, it is going to take some financial support from the congregation. If you are able to help, please mark your donation to Sound System Upgrade.
Our next administrative council meeting will be after church on Sunday, June 24. If you have something that needs to be discussed during this meeting, please get that to Debbie beforehand so we can establish an agenda to work from. We had quite a few in attendance at our last meeting, and I hope to have everyone in attendance at this upcoming meeting.
I would like you to encourage you to be in prayer for our church. Ask God to be with each member, staff, and committee in our church. Ask Him for guidance that we may worship and work in accordance with His will. Pray for each other. We are all facing hidden battles and demons every day. We need to remember to ask God to be with everyone, to encourage everyone, and to remind everyone of His never-ending love, mercy, and grace!
Please don’t hesitate to approach me with any questions or concerns. May God Bless You and Yours!
– Cody McCain, Administrative Council Chairman
Mission Committee- April – Wildflower Luncheon- Organized by Robyn Shelton, the luncheon for the Carnival Vendors was a huge success. We served 55 people, who were so grateful for a wonderful meal and fellowship. As this is the 2nd year (we served 36 last year), we are seeing familiar faces and getting to know them and their families. We offered bracelets, bookmarks and tracks to them as they headed back to work. Many thanks to all the volunteers who provided the delicious food and helped serve and greet our guests. It was such a blessing to us to extend this hospitality to them. I encourage you to join the mission committee or volunteer as there are many opportunities to serve and extend love to others.
P.S. We always have fun!
Diaper Bank News
Each month, we are serving more and more at the diaper bank. Please keep the donations coming.
