call the office

If your organization or committee has an event to be held at or sponsored by the church, please call the secretary’s office at 903-639-2131, so it can be placed on the calendar, in the bulletin and in the newsletter.

This will help prevent double bookings at the church.

We will be glad to include a listing of your church meeting or activity in the newsletter, but remember that Debbie must have the information before the first of the month in order to have it in the newsletter.

Remembering Your Church with Your Gifts

As all of us know, giving to our church to support God’s Ministry is something we need to remember. Today, we all have active lives. Including vacations, visiting out of town family, attending those special weddings and of course seeing our grandchildren.

Our lives can get hectic and sometimes we can forget our ministry to God. To help with that, we now offer online giving to the church.

Simply go to the church website:

From here you can donate your gifts to the church.

Heartspring Methodist Foundation is offering this to us at no charge. Every penny you donate comes directly to the church with no fees or service charges.

On this tab, you can decide to give to the general account for the church’s budget or to another special or designated fund. You can make memorials or honorariums to people. (Notifications will be sent to those families). You can make a one-time gift or set up a reoccurring gift. You can use your credit or debit card or have it drafted from your personal account. You can register and create an account or give as a guest. You have a lot of options to have it set up your way and you can change or delete your selection at any time.

So, during your busy schedule, give online giving a try.

If you have any more questions about the process, please call Debbie at the church office. 903-639-2131 Monday – Thursday 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

Psalm 23 for Church Attendance

Recreation is my shepherd, I shall not stay at home; It maketh me to lie down in a sleeping bag; It leadeth me down the interstate each weekend.

It restoreth my suntan; It leadeth me to state parks for comfort’s sake. Even though I stray on the Lord’s Day, I will fear no reprimand, for I am relaxed; My rod and reel they comfort me.

I anointed my skin with oil, My gas tank runneth dry; Surely my trailer shall follow me all the weekends of summer, And I shall return to the house of the Lord this fall.

But by then, it will be hunting season and football season, And that’s another psalm.

If you are scheduled to enter a hospital please let the church office know. Need name of hospital, city and date of check in. This will help Pastor Bill be able to be with you in your time of need.

If you or a family member is unexpectedly admitted to the hospital, please give the church office the same information.

We are on this journey together and communication is key.

A Little Reminder:

In case something comes up and you miss Sunday morning service.

You may go to the church Face book page and watch the entire service streamed live. If you can not watch it live, each Sunday’s service is streamed and stored on Face book. You can watch them anytime. If you have a favorite sermon that you would like to hear again, find that date in the video section and listen anytime.

Also, the church website offers many things for church members and those looking for a church home. The pastor’s blog, current calendar of events, the newsletter archived online, online giving, our church ministries and much more. Try to visit regularly, things are always changing.

Office Needs

The church office is not on the prayer phone chain. Because of this, sometimes we miss information about members’ prayer requests or joys to share.

If you have a prayer request or know of one, please call (903-639-2131) or email hsfumc@yahoo.com, the church office. If you call after office hours, please leave a message on the voicemail.

This will help us to know when one of our church family has a special need.

If you would like a church wide email sent for a prayer request, please contact Debbie in the office by phone or email.

Also, please try to keep us informed on the person’s condition.

Thank you, Debbie Kelley

Mustard Seeds

At the first meeting this month we will be looking at activities for the summer months. As well as considering which night would be best for our summer gathering time. Parents are asked to be present for at least part of the meeting. All elementary age children of the congregation and their friends are invited.

Pastor Bill

Have you noticed?

I love to go by the bulletin board at the south entrance of the church. Ms. Carly and the kids always show their creativity and share with us on the bulletin board.

The next time you think about it, stop by and see what the Children’s department has to offer you by way of their creativity.

Thank you, Ms. Carly and all the kids.

At the annual conference this year the main theme was that we love all God’s Children. During the presentations, an idea was brought forward that touched my heart. The reality is that unless a child has learned to read well by the 3rd grade, they will have trouble through the rest of their school career. To give help with this the concept of reading partners was suggested. In this an adult comes once or twice a week and reads to and with a young person one on one. I talked with Scott Hanes, our elementary principle, about this idea. It was something they had thought about. I would like to see this church take part in that program. If you would be willing to give of your time, please let me know. More will be announced about this as the idea begins to take shape and plans start to form.

Praying for our Pastor

Prayer for Provision

Dear God in Heaven, we love you and know that your promises in the Bible are true. Please hold our pastor in the palm of your hands as he continually walks by faith, knowing that you will provide for his every need as well as the needs of his family. Please help him to remember what Jesus said about your generosity and loving kindness. Help him to know that you know every hair on his head and that he is much more than any sparrow. I praise you for all that you have already done for my pastor and pray that you will continue to bless him with everything that he needs. I pray in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

Luke 12:6-7 Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.

Nadine’s Outreach is coming along. Rod Wright and Billy Zachry have been working on the water lines. There were many leaks and breaks in the lines due to cold weather. Rod also installed a new kitchen faucet.

Cathy Zachry has been busy cleaning and repairing some antique furniture left at the property. She has also cleaned out and is repairing the basement. Thank you all so much for your help!

Nadine’s Outreach is our church family mission project. Please come and give us ideas and join the fun and fellowship while working to update this house.

We will be doing some interior painting as soon as we have running water!!

Anyone interested in helping, please call me.

 Thank you

Interested Women of the Church

On April 29th we had our luncheon for our graduating Seniors of 2018! We had a great luncheon for our graduates. Thank you to everyone that helped with that luncheon.

IWC met for their monthly meeting May 1. On May 4th we went to Grace Hill Nursing Home and made cookies and served the mother’s tea for their annual Mother’s Day Celebration.

I want to thank Robyn, Patsy, Penny, Joyce and Kathy for all of their help. We also made cookies for the Springs Nursing Home.

We will be having our last meeting for a couple of months on June 5th. Then we will be taking a break for summer!! Hope everyone has a great summer and remember we would like for any of the women to join in our group!
Thank you,  Shelli Fickling

The engineer has finished his report and has turned it over to the company. We are in weekly contact with the General Adjuster for updates, which he continues to say there are not any.

This week, we went around the General Adjuster and against his advice, contacted our representative from the insurance company. Debbie received a response from him stating that he was going to make contact with the General Adjuster’s boss, to find out if there is anything he can tell us, about the time frame for reaching a decision; at which time we will be able to move forward.

Remember, it took 79 years for it to get in this shape and the insurance company does not get in a hurry. For us, the last three months feels like an eternity. For them, it feels like nothing.

We ask for your continued prayers and understanding.

Administrative Council Chairman

I want to start off by apologizing for having to reschedule our next Administrative Council meeting that was originally set for Sunday, June 24th immediately following worship.

My family and I will be out of town June 16th – June 24th on a family vacation, and I did not originally realize the dates overlapped.  Please forgive me.  Our next meeting will be Sunday, July 15 immediately following worship.  If you have anything that needs to be addressed during this meeting, please get the topic to Deb in the office no later than July 9 so that she can get an agenda ready for us to go over during the meeting.  As always, if you have any concerns or questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me any time.

Sanctuary Projectors

We have received a good portion of the funding needed to start replacing the two forward-facing projectors in our sanctuary.  Praise be to God!  This project will begin in the near future as the trustees and I have available time.  Additional funding may still be needed however, so if you are able to give, I would ask that you mark your donation to go towards Projection Project.   Any and all donations are greatly appreciated!  If anyone would be interested in helping us run the A/V system from time to time on Sundays, that would also be appreciated.  Please contact myself or Troy Perry if you would like to help.  (And no don’t worry, Troy and I aren’t going anywhere.)

Each month, the members of the Mission Committee actively support the Diaper Bank and Shepherd’s Harvest Food Pantry.  We enjoy the fellowship and toss around ideas for future projects. We are always looking for ways to spread God’s love.  Got any ideas, let us know!

Diaper Bank News

Thank you for your continued support to the diaper bank. We are currently low on sizes 4 and 5.
