March 27, 2017:

Greetings in the name of the Lord.

So many things to do and so little time. However, that is better than sitting around having nothing to do or not seeing what needs to be done. I want to highlight some of the things we as a church need to be going forth and doing.

First, we need, along with the church at Cornett, to form a food pantry board to guide the pantry through the time of transition. There are many things that need to be decided. A name needs to be chosen for the pantry, decisions on how much to spend on food each month, a more permanent sign for the pantry needs to be obtained, and other opportunities need to be examined. All this needs to be accomplished before July. Please examine your heart to see if the Lord is calling you to this service. If you feel so moved, please contact Lyn Baker or the church office.

The next group of people we need is the core group for the Abide Program, the program for church growth and revitalization. If you feel the Lord is calling you to take part in this, please contact the church office. You will need a willing heart, a desire to further God’s mission in this community, and a belief that there are better things ahead for this congregation. The program will run for about a year. However, the group will need to be willing to carry the church into the future.

Also, there is in the works, a young people’s youth group to start after Easter. This will be a weekly event that will include arts and crafts, singing, some faith based movies, and some pizza nights. The target group is elementary and pre-elementary aged young people. If you would be willing to help with this as a sponsor or occasional helper, please let us know. If you have any ideas for events or things the group can do, those would be appreciated as well. Contact the church office, Pastor Bill, or Carly McCain to let us know in what way you will serve and support this program.

So much to do. “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Pray therefore the Lord of the harvest that he might send laborers into his harvest.” Luke 10:2.

Come join the fun.

May God’s love and grace be with you this week.

See you in church!
