March 20, 2017:

Greetings in the name of the Lord.

I was very impressed with the introductory meeting for the Abide program. (a program designed to work with smaller churches to help revitalize the churches and help with church growth) It is my hope that this church can go forward with this program as it will bring many benefits to the congregation. This, together with the fact that the Bishop is so committed to the program that he has put the conference’s financial support behind it causes me to take the program seriously.

Any church wanting to take part in the program will be doing so with no cost to that congregation. The program is one that the Bishop had used in his previous conference and it was successful there. It starts by organizing a core group in the congregation of committed individuals who desire to see the local church grow and be strengthened in the Spirit. This will be our first task, to find individuals willing to serve on that committee.

One of the things I like about the program is that it is itinerancy (itinerancy refers to the church’s habit of moving pastors around) proof. In other words, it is set up in such a way that it will carry forward even if there is a change in pastors. Too often when there is a change in Pastors in a congregation, many good programs are lost. The new pastor might have a different view or want to do things in a different way.

As we move on into this program I ask your support and prayers. I believe that this program will allow us to better fulfill our mission to be the people of God and to show His love, forgiveness and grace to the world.

May God’s love and grace be with you this week.

See you in church!
