February 21, 2017:

Greetings in the name of the Lord.

Thank you for the birthday song on Sunday. I had the opportunity to speak with each of my children, which is always fun. Amy took me out to lunch. I guess turning 62 wasn’t all that bad. (Sometimes I wish I have been born on the 29th of February, then I would only be 15 and a half.)

Get ready, the Lentin season is here. We will be having our Ash Wednesday service on the 1st of March at 6 p.m. Let’s get Lent started with a bang. Looking further ahead, we will be having Holy Thursday and a Good Friday service this year. Holy Thursday is the celebration of our Lord’s institution of Holy Communion. That service will be at 6 p.m. Our Good Friday service will be a Tenebrae service based on the last words of Christ from the cross. As it is a service which is to end in darkness, we are thinking that it would be better to start that service at 7 p.m.

Be aware that Sunday the 12th of March is the day of the time change. Please remember to turn your clocks an hour ahead before going to sleep on Saturday or you’ll find yourself being late to everything.

May God’s love and grace be with you this week.

See you in church!
