February 13, 2017:

Greetings in the name of the Lord.

Glory halleluiah! What a workshop! Six different members of the congregation took the trip to Marshall for the district workshop this past Friday and it was worth the trip. I just wished I could find a way to split myself into several parts there were so many good classes to choose from. The worship that started us off really got the event off on the right foot. Hope we can send more people next time it comes around.

Thank you for your generosity in our drive to help youngsters and teachers in our local elementary school. To those who gave supplies or contributed cash, well done. Today Dianna and I plan to head to Longview to purchase supplies with the money collected and then on Valentine’s Day we will deliver them to the school.

On Sunday, we had a typical church crowd. The back of the church was full. Now all we have to do is try to get the middle and front just as full. It was a joy to see you there.

Looking ahead, please mark March 1st on your calendar. It is the start of Lent and we will be having an Ash Wednesday service that night at 6 p.m. There will be an imposition of ashes as well as an opportunity to relieve yourselves of your burdens by turning them over to the Lord. (more on that later) It will be a special night. Come and be part of it.

May God’s love and grace be with you this week.

See you in church.
